Episode 2: Student Parents
Kate moderates our second episode as we discuss student parents and how we can better serve this important, overlooked student population. We explore the scholarship surrounding student parents and how caregiving deeply impacts their curricular and co-curricular engagement. We then welcome our HEAL cohort member and colleague, Brandi Lóera-Mendiola, who presents on her findings from her master’s thesis, Serving Student Parents in Higher Education: An Exploration of Policy and Practice. We finish the episode chatting about how we as professionals can better serve our student parent population.
